The obese ground snake (Atractus obesus), Nicefor's ground snake (Atractus nicefori) and the bignose ground snake (Atractus obtusirostris) are each known only sporadically from parts of the Cordillera Occidental and Cordillera Central of western and northwestern Colombia, where they are threatened by loss of habitat.
