Spannring's leaf-toed gecko (Matoatoa spannringi) was long known only from a few microhabitats at Fiadanana in southeastern Madagascar (former Fianarantsoa province), though more recently a single specimen was recorded from Sainte Luce in the far southeast (former Toliara province).
